Naturopathic and Holistic Medicine
What’s the difference between naturopathic and holistic medicine?
Our Health and Wellness industry is always evolving. It can be overwhelming, but it can be exciting because we have options! Alongside the professional conventional doctors, we now have professional non-traditional doctors to enable us to conquer our journey to optimize our health and wellbeing.
There is naturopathic and holistic medicine. These are not the same. Here’s the basic breakdown.
Naturopathic medicine is its own discipline of medicine with a foundation of specified training in natural remedies, using these natural remedies to help the body heal itself. Massage, herbs, acupuncture, nutritional counseling, psychotherapy, and exercise to rebuild, sustain and restore health and wellness are all examples of modalities involved to facilitate healing.
Holistic medicine is practiced by physicians with conventional medical training who also have a holistic philosophy and education embracing the mental, physical, emotional approach to medicine. Doctors have completed the conventional and medical degrees and combine medicinal modalities with a whole person balanced approach to rebuild, sustain and restore health and wellness. They believe the body operates as an interconnected system.
